Obituary

Sincere condolences on the passing away of Alan…a dear family friend, since my early childhood.
My first memories of Alan are as a next-door neighbour in Valley Road, Scarborough… where my parents lived until I was 9 years old. Mum ran a busy Dance School, from the house …my Dad & Alan were always great friends… + I remember we were often in each other’s homes.
Alan still remained in contact
when I went to the University of East Anglia ,in Norwich, in 1970. He kindly treated me to dinner, on occasions, when in the area, working as a representative + gave me umbrellas, I remember, which were samples from the company he worked for at that time!
Alan & Sylvia were guests at our wedding in Scarborough, in 1976, to my husband, Trevor, whom I met whilst at Norwich. They, gladly, feature on our group guest photographs.
Trevor & I visited Alan & Sylvia, in Quinton, occasionally, over the years and were saddened to learn of Sylvia’s passing at such a young age.
I remember, on a more sombre note, Alan attending both my parents’ funerals in 1990 + 1996.
Trevor & I called on Alan & Elsie, whilst returning from a holiday with friends , on the Gower peninsula, in 2015. This was the last time I saw Alan as, sadly, life has become increasingly busy with family + grandchildren since that date.
We have always kept in touch through Facebook, + greetings cards… but geographical distance + ill health has prevented our meeting with ease, unfortunately.
